About the project

As remote learning boomed in 2020, I worked with the team at Elevated Third to rethink the way that Instructure would market their LMS system worldwide with a freshly designed lead-gen platform. The Canvas products are used by educators and students of all levels, so it was important to differentiate them via “audience” and “need” pages with distinct themes to help tell them apart.  Being an international site, it was definitely an interesting challenge designing for multiple languages in the same layouts- solved with some clever dynamic font resizing tricks and content writing guidance provided to the client team.

The overarching Instructure homepage needed to tell the story of the company and also offer a gateway into their flagship product.
Above are some examples of different audience themes (top is Higher Ed, bottom is K-12) which inform the colors and imagery used throughout.
First, I like to start with some lo-fi wireframes to lay out the content structure for quick team approval.
A first draft of the visual design - can start to see some of the distinct visuals forming.
Dialed back the playful illustrations and added more iconography in the final direction I pitched.
With conferences going digital through 2021, I also designed a suite of reusable event microsite templates for Instructure, with registration and live streams.
These microsites were also designed to be accessible after the event was over for on-demand viewing of the panel recordings.
